aim.gifI don't get the point of people who are on AIM, but constantly have an away message up. I know that Dead AIM is there to allow us to message people with the away message, but that's really annoying. Have you ever done that? Every time you send a message, you get their away message again. If you have that option, don't do that. Why do people use that option? Well, it's so you can go online and see who is there, but not talk to anyone, or a specific someone you don't want to talk to. Well, my answer to that is get another screen name. Common, all of us have at least two, the public name, then the lurking-on-the-internet-like-a-spy/stalker name and if you don't, get one. Lord knows I have enough names, or at least access to enough names. In this day and age, you have to have several names. One for work, one for home, one for the people you actually want to talk to, one for spying,, one you give away on friendster, one for your mobile(phone or pda or computer), the list goes on and on.
What also gets me is people who make IM dates. Who does that? I mean I can understand if you're in a different continent, but really, who is on the phone with someone and says, hey, let's stop this conversation and get on IM? Or says, hey, I'll talk to you on IM on Thursday at about 3:30pm? Get a life.

Work is draging on and on. If all things work out, January should be a very, very busy month. I really hope that all things work out. I pray, you should pray/give offerings/make sacrafices for me. Before I left for Houston, I wrote the letter for Poindexter. Have to figure out when to send it. Send it now and get the expected response, or wait and see if he surprises me? Hmmmm, what a to-do.

Damian Lewis is a very hot man, if you haven't seen Band of Brothers yet, you must. There are not one, but two copies of the boxed DVD set in my house, and one in the house that I lived in before. If that's not a testament to how good BoB is, then you need to be less snobby.

Changes afoot

Well, I haven't posted here in a bit, if you're expecting things about DC, then go to the other blog. I was going to make a private blog for my thoughts at typepad, but then I thought that that doesn't make sense. I already have this one, so I'll just put my thoughts up here, and loosely disguise names. And this is a lot easier, I don't have to set up a whole new blog. Yay! This blog will be updated sporadically, as I feel, whereas the other blog will be updated regularly. In other words, this blog is going to get a whole lot more boring and uninteresting.

handsome manAll I need to do is find a cute boy who looks like Colin Firth, sounds/talks like Colin Firth, plays the guitar and can play this song (Yes, I should just get Colin Firth):

Rupert (as Algy): After you dear boy.
Colin (as Jack): Oh no after you.
Rupert: No, no, no, do go first I’m not really good at the high bits. I’m much better low
Colin: Oh we’ll see...
Hm hm hm hmm
Rupert: 1 2. and!

Colin: The western wind is blowing fair
Across the dark Aegean Sea
Rupert: And at the secret marble stair
My Tyrian galley waits for thee

Together: Come down, the purple sail is spread
The watchman sleeps within the town
Oh leave thy lily flowerbed
Oh lady mine, come down

Chorus: Come down
Lady come down
Come down
Lady come down,
Oh Lady come down

She will not come I know her well
Of lover's vows she hath no care
And little good a man can tell
Of one so cruel and so fair

Colin: True love is but a woman’s toy
They never know their lover's pain
Rupert: And I who loved as loves a boy
Must love in vain
Together: Must love in vain

Come down
Lady come down
Come down
Lady come down

Colin: I think your high notes may have damaged our chances old boy. You do want them to come down don’t you?
Rupert: well she is never gonna come down if you're singing like that. You’re completely out of tune
Colin: How dare you
Rupert: I’ll take this bit
Colin: you leave this to me. You go lie down around
Rupert: no I’ll take this bit
Colin: out of my way I’m coming through
Rupert: go easy, my dear fellow
Colin: COME DOOOOOWWWNNN

Come down
Lady come down (Rupert: Jack (Colin), you’re messing it more) __
Come down
Lady come down

Colin: That wasn’t so bad, was it?
Hmmmmhmhhhhmmmmm
Rupert: They’re not gonna come down.
D'you think we should go up?
Maybe we should go up.
Colin: Algy you’re always talking nonsense.
Rupert: Well it’s better than listening to it
Colin: Lady come down
Rupert: Doo bee doo bee doo bee doo bee doo

Nuclear

bombI spent quite a bit of time in college studying about the nuclear age and the like, I felt as if I should post about the new exhibit at the Corcoran. The exhibition is called Critical Assembly. This exhibit focuses on the Manhattan Project and has actual items used by the scientist at Los Alamos. While the installations mimic actual nuclear bombs, the artist very purposefully stayed away from a true-to-life representation of a nuclear bomb. The exhibition studies how something that can be seen as beautiful can be so very desctructive. The exhibit was previewed by the Post. The exhibit will run till Jan 26, 2004 and the cost of admission is $5.

Art and copying

wsoinvite.jpgNext Monday the Washington Convetion Center Authority will launch the "largest public art collection" in Washington, DC. I'm not sure how they are defining public art collection, but it's 120 works in different media. I'm also interested to see how spread out the works are. Do you have to walk the miles of corridor of the new Convention Center to see all 120 works? The opening is from 6-8pm and the Washington Symphony Orchestra will perform.

Well, the Post has a very interesting article today about the Indian summer DC residents are currently enjoying. Hmmmm, sounds familiar. Well, enjoy it while it lasts, looks like the good weather will only hold out till Thursday, then it's back to everything cold and dying again. Fall can be such a depressing season.

It might be an off-year, yet today is election day.
I finished high school seven years ago, yet soo much teen angst and drama. Why? Why can't people just be truthful and not let things drag out forever? Why?

Indian Summer

Yay, I got the Indian Summer that I was hoping for. Today had a high of 76 and this week looks really good.
District of Columbia
Bob Ryan's Forecast:
Tonight: Clear and balmy. Lows 55-60.
Election Day: Sunny and very warm again. Highs 75-80.
Wednesday: Cloudy. Still warm. Chance of showers late. Highs 70-75.
Thursday: Chance of few showers early. Then partly sunny. Cooler. Near 65.

I would put up a picture in the post, but I've just added four new albums to the other page. There's friends, scuba and travel. Rather than make an album for every party or place or event, I've just grouped them and then it's decending by date. So, check back for additions to the albums. Kansas City kids should be interested in the friends photos, Jeremiah is there. I've made additions to the UNA-USA Summit album and the other ones.

So, I called up my cousin and my aunt who I literally haven't spoken to or seen in years. I think it was all the way back in high school actually. Since they live in Chicago and I spent the week-end there for work, it only seemed right that I see them. Well, Roger made reservations at a restaurant he hasn't been to, but has heard great things about. It's called Giannotti's. As my cousin put it, it just had this feeling like it was 'made'. It was soo great, the clothes, the gold chains and big hair, the accent, everything about the place screamed mobster. It was like being in Jersey, but different accents and family means a whole lot more.

I did notice something that is unique to Chicago, the Vesuvio. You can get it at Itallian restaurants and most of the time it's made with chicken. But it's either chicken, beef or veal in a brown sauce with potato wedges and peas. Very odd. I didn't try it myself, but Adam and my cousin both had it. Guess it's something completely Chicago.
